The Playful Bunk Room
If you frequently host families or groups of nieces and nephews, a custom-built attic bunk room is an incredibly fun and practical use of space. The sloped ceilings of an attic are ideal for creating built-in bunk beds that fit snugly into the eaves. This maximizes floor space, leaving plenty of room in the center of the attic for a play area, a media console, or cozy floor cushions.
Design each bunk as an individual pod, complete with its own reading light, a small built-in shelf for books or water bottles, and a privacy curtain. Use a cheerful, unisex color palette like navy blue, sunny yellow, and clean white. Incorporate plenty of smart storage, such as deep drawers built underneath the bottom bunks, to keep toys, games, and luggage neatly organized and out of sight.
