2. Sunlit Window Nook & Reading Bench
What This Idea Means
A Sunlit Window Nook transforms an empty wall into an inviting reading area filled with natural light. Built around large glass windows, this bench setup combines comfortable seating, subtle storage, and surrounding greenery to create a tranquil spot in any home.

How to Make It
- Window Frame: Recess a section of your exterior wall and fill a 3×2 area with Glass Panes (white stained glass works exceptionally well).
- Bench Seating: Directly beneath the window glass, place three upside-down Stairs or a row of Barrels facing horizontally.
- Side Cushions: Attach Trapdoors to the outer edges of the bench seating to act as wooden armrests.
- Pillows & Decor: Place Carpet blocks on top of the bench seats for cushions, and add a Flower Pot containing a Fern or Flowering Azalea on a small side shelf.
Tips & Variations
- Storage Bench: Using Barrels for the seat base allows you to access full storage while maintaining a clean, built-in wooden aesthetic.
- Plant Frame: Surround the outer edges of the window nook with Oak Leaves or Vines to give it a fresh, natural look.
