8. Rustic Farmhouse Bathtub Caddy Board

Turn ordinary baths into home-spa experiences. A custom-fitted wooden bath tray securely holds books, tablets, candles, and wine glasses over hot water.

  • Materials: 1×10-inch solid cedar, teak, or walnut board (naturally moisture-resistant timbers), waterproof wood glue, clear marine spar urethane, small cabinet handles, non-slip rubber pads.
  • Tools: Tape measure, jigsaw, router with roundover bit, random orbital sander, drill.
  • How to Make It:
    1. Measure the exact exterior width of your bathtub and cut the main board to match.
    2. Cut two small wood stops and screw/glue them to the underside of the board, inset precisely to match the tub’s inner rim so the tray cannot slip sideways.
    3. Route a shallow 1/4-inch channel across the surface to act as an upright tablet/book prop-stand.
    4. Sand all edges smooth with fine 220-grit sandpaper.
    5. Apply three liberal coats of water-resistant marine spar urethane, allowing complete curing between coats, and mount stylish brass handles on the top ends.
  • Tips & Variations: Drill a circular indent for a mug or wine glass stem slot, or drill drainage holes if preferred.
