6. Apothecary of the Undead porch

6

Convert your front porch into the dusty, cluttered storefront of an ancient apothecary. Utilize an outdoor shelving unit, console table, or a potting bench as your base. Line the shelves with an assortment of amber glass bottles, vintage medicine jars, and ornate decanters filled with colored water, plastic eyeballs, faux preserved specimens, and floating plastic spiders. Create custom, aged labels with names like “Essence of Nightshade,” “Graveyard Dust,” and “Vampire Venom.” Accent the shelves with antique books, brass scales, dripping candlesticks, and dried herbs hanging upside down from the porch ceiling. A light layer of spray-on cobwebbing and a dusting of fuller’s earth or gray chalk powder will give the entire display an authentic, untouched-for-centuries look that invites close inspection.
