8. The Sun-Bleached Driftwood Palm

8

Found on remote, rugged coastlines, the Sun-Bleached Driftwood Palm represents a tree that has weathered countless tropical storms. Its trunk is light, pale, and stripped bare by sun and salt water, giving it a rustic, atmospheric feel. Achieve this aesthetic by building the trunk entirely out of birch logs, pale oak, or stripped oak wood, interspersed with mushroom stems for a weathered texture.

The foliage on a driftwood palm should be somewhat sparse and ragged, suggesting a tree that thrives despite harsh ocean conditions. Mix dead bushes, dried kelp blocks, and pale green leaves into the canopy. Hang lingering string or cobwebs beneath the leaves to mimic torn foliage or sea spray build-up. This style of palm adds incredible storytelling depth to shipwrecks, pirate coves, and uninhabited desert islands.
