17. The Tire Ottoman

17

An old car tire can easily be transformed into a stylish, heavy-duty footrest or extra seating option for your living room or patio. By wrapping the entire exterior of the tire in thick, natural sisal or jute rope, you completely hide the rubber, creating a beautiful, textured woven ottoman that fits perfectly into bohemian or coastal decor styles.

To construct the ottoman, cut two circular pieces of plywood to fit the top and bottom openings of the tire, securing them in place with heavy-duty screws. Starting from the center of the top wooden circle, begin coiling and gluing the jute rope using a hot glue gun, working your way outward and down the sides of the tire until the entire surface is covered. You can add small wooden legs to the bottom for extra height, or leave it flat on the floor for a cozy, grounded look.
