14. The Silverware Garden Markers
Keep your herb and vegetable gardens organized with a touch of vintage elegance by transforming old silver-plated spoons and forks into durable garden markers. Unlike plastic or paper labels that quickly degrade in the sun and rain, these metal markers are weather-resistant, long-lasting, and add a beautiful, antique touch to your garden beds.
To make these markers, use a heavy hammer to flatten the bowls of vintage spoons on a hard, flat surface. Once flattened, use a metal letter stamping kit to stamp the names of your plants—such as “Basil,” “Thyme,” or “Tomatoes”—directly into the metal. You can highlight the stamped letters by rubbing a bit of black acrylic paint into the indentations and wiping away the excess. Simply push the handle of the spoon directly into the soil next to your plants for a charming, rustic organizational system.
