11. Custom Bunk Bed with Desk Workspace
What This Idea Means
Ideal for compact spaces, cozy bedrooms, or shared kids’ rooms, a lofted bunk bed utilizes vertical room efficiently by stacking a bed directly over an integrated study workstation.
How to Make It
- Build two vertical support pillars four blocks high using Stripped Spruce Logs spaced two blocks apart.
- Attach a Bed on top of the upper platform spanned between the logs, surrounding exposed sides with Trapdoors for safety rails.
- Place a Ladder on one support pillar for bed access.
- Underneath the bed frame, place two Spruce Slabs attached to the back wall to serve as a low-profile desk.
- Add a chair beneath, along with a Wall Torch or Lantern, and a Book and Quill on the desk surface.
Tips and Variations
- Double Bunk: Instead of a desk underneath, place a second bed perpendicular to the top bed for a traditional dual-sleeper arrangement.
- Storage Bunk: Place Bookshelves and Chests under the bed overhang if study desk space isn’t needed.
