What You Need
- 3/4 yard heavy canvas or upholstery fabric
- 3/4 yard wipeable nylon lining fabric
- 1/8-inch steel crafting wire or coat hanger wire
- Wire cutters and pliers
- Heavy fusible interfacing
- Velcro strips or internal corner boning channels
How to Make It
- Cut exterior and lining fabrics for a rectangular storage box structure (14×10 inches, 8 inches height).
- Create narrow bias-tape channels along upper inner rim and four interior vertical corners.
- Bend crafting wire using pliers into a rectangular frame matching top perimeter dimensions of box.
- Fuse heavy interfacing to exterior panels and assemble main outer and inner shells.
- Insert top wire frame into rim channel before topstitching rim closed.
- Insert flexible plastic boning strips into four corner vertical channels to hold sides upright.
- Configure base with removable cardboard/plastic insert covered in matching fabric so box collapses flat when base plate is lifted.
