Maximizing vertical storage space, these hanging fabric basket pockets are mounted on walls, doors, or side panels of desks. Suspended from a natural wooden dowel rod via fabric loops, they store mail, magazines, slippers, or craft supplies without consuming floor or shelf space.
What You Need
- 3/4 yard heavy duck canvas
- 1/2 yard accent printed cotton for pocket lining
- 1 wooden dowel rod (1/2-inch diameter, 16 inches long)
- Hanging twine or leather cord
- Heavy thread, iron, and sewing tools
How to Make It
- Cut back main panel (14×24 inches) from double-layered canvas for durability.
- Cut three pocket panels (14×10 inches each) from canvas and printed lining.
- Assemble pockets by sewing exterior and lining right sides together along top edge, turning, pressing, and topstitching rim.
- Pleat bottom edges of pocket panels slightly to create expanded 3D pocket depth.
- Space three pockets vertically along front of main backing panel and stitch side and bottom seams securely.
- Fold top 2 inches of main back panel over to rear to create horizontal dowel casing; stitch across panel.
