10. Recessed Wall Arch Niche with Brass Hanging Rods
What This Idea Means
Creating an architectural feature within your wall, a shallow painted arch niche fitted with horizontal brass hanging rods elevates jewelry storage into a built-in gallery feature.
How to Make It
- Mark Arch Outline: Trace a classic curved arch silhouette (approx. 14×24 inches) onto a flat wall section using a pencil, string, and level.
- Paint Arch Niche: Paint inside the arch outline using a contrasting paint color (e.g., terracotta, dusty rose, or deep forest green) against your main wall color.
- Measure Rod Positions: Mark two or three horizontal lines across the painted arch at varying heights.
- Install Rod Brackets: Screw minimalist brass curtain rod brackets or flange sockets onto the wall at both ends of your marked horizontal lines.
- Mount Brass Rods: Slide solid 3/8-inch brass rods into the brackets and add small sliding brass S-hooks along each rod length.
Tips & Variations
- Tip: Space horizontal rods at least 8 inches apart vertically so long pendant necklaces on upper rods do not overlap necklaces below them.
- Variation: Line the interior of the painted arch with textured grasscloth or botanical peel-and-stick wallpaper before installing rods.
