5. Modern Geometric Terrazzo & Copper Pipe Stand

What This Idea Means

Designed for dressers, vanities, or nightstands, this freestanding jewelry holder uses a heavy hand-poured terrazzo concrete base anchoring a sleek copper pipe T-bar frame.

How to Make It

  1. Mix Terrazzo Base: Mix white jeweler’s concrete or jesmonite with colored marble chips. Pour the mixture into a square or circular silicone mold.
  2. Insert Vertical Pipe Anchor: Press a 1/2-inch copper pipe coupling vertically into the center of the wet concrete. Allow to cure for 24 hours.
  3. Sand & Seal Base: Demold the base and sand the surface with wet 400-grit sandpaper to reveal the speckled marble terrazzo chips. Seal with concrete sealer.
  4. Assemble Copper T-Bar: Connect a 12-inch vertical copper pipe to the base coupling, attaching a 10-inch horizontal copper pipe at the top using a copper T-fitting.
  5. Cap End Fittings: Cap the horizontal pipe ends with copper end caps using metal epoxy adhesive.

Tips & Variations

  • Tip: Attach self-adhesive felt pads to the bottom of the concrete base to protect wooden vanity surfaces from scratches.
  • Variation: Swap copper pipe fittings for polished brass tubing for a warmer metallic aesthetic.
